WHAT IS NEPP?

NEPP is a platform commissioned by the Pharmacy Council of Ghana with support from PSGH, FDA, HEFRA, MDC, NMC and Allied Health to facilitate safe and secure access to medications and pharmaceutical services in Ghana from internet based applications such as online pharmacies, websites, social media and e-commerce platforms whilst protecting the public.

WHAT DOES NEPP DO?

NEPP protects Ghanaians by ensuring that only approved electronic pharmacies and electronic pharmacy service providers who meet the standards for safely providing medicines via Internet or Internet based apps can operate in Ghana.

Using your NePP mobile acount, you can pick up your prescriptions at your local pharmacy after placing your order.
You can refill or transfer your prescription to the NePP platform. We will deliver your medications right to your door step.
Many people are looking more and more to the internet for medicines and healthcare information. 71% of all Internet users search for a health related question or information at least once every 12 months. 31% of internet users procured medications admit to using internet based applications such as online pharmacies, websites, social media during the pandemic Post the pandemic around 10% of all Internet users have purchased medication online within the last 12 months and that number in expected to reach 16% in the next 18 months pointing to a growing shift especially in populations under 35 years of age.
  • When visiting an online pharmacy or service provider that sells human medicines, look for the NEPP logo.
  • When you click on the NEPP logo, check if it takes you to a page that shows you the list of NEPP approved online pharmacies or authorised service providers (retailers) permitted to sell human medicines over the internet.
  • Check that the online service provider and website address are on the list.
  • If the pharmacy/online shop is recorded on the list, then they have been authorised by NEPP
  • Don’t buy human medicines from websites and Internet based providers without the NEPP logo and registration number
  • Who’s behind the shop? Does the online shop tell you who’s responsible for it and the medicine it sells? This information is mandatory.
  • When you click on the NEPP logo, check if it takes you to a page that shows you the list of NEPP approved online pharmacies or authorised service providers (retailers) permitted to sell human medicines over the internet.
  • Is the online pharmacy or service provider listed on NEPPs website? If online pharmacy or service provider is listed on NEPP website then they are legitimate
  • Has the website been updated recently? If not, be sceptical of the contents.
